Tessellations:

In his lifetime, M.C. Escher produced 137 planar tessellation images. To the best of my knowledge, Escher designed his images by drafting table and T-square. In 1972, I first became aware of Escher's work and the phenomena of the regular division of the plane, and since that time, have been creating my own collection of tessellations. I began using the drafting table technique and in 1986, when home computer graphic applications first became common place, I made the transition to a digital design technology. Most of my design and layout is done using a bit mapped graphic application.

Currently I have around 120 images, and they are all digitally archived. Prior to 1994 I designed my images purely from an artistic point of view. After 1994, the requirements of transposing my images from 2D to 3D in order to allow the overlay of the various 3 dimensional regular and semi-regular polyhedra required the incorporation of a spatial regular polygon geometry ( equilateral triangle, square, pentagon, hexagon) substructure.
